About this stay
In Kongthong, mothers give each child a tune as well as a name — a whistled melody, called jingrwai iawbei, that the village uses to call to one another across the valleys. It is one of the most unusual traditions in India, and the best way to hear it is to stay the night.
We book you a room with a local family, with dinner and breakfast at home. Kongthong is quiet, rural and well off the main tourist loop, which is exactly the point.
