About this experience
The double-decker living root bridge at Nongriat is two bridges grown from the roots of rubber fig trees, one stacked above the other over a stream. It is Meghalaya’s most famous sight and the reason most people come to Cherrapunji.
Getting there is the adventure: a long stone staircase from Tyrna village down into the valley, past smaller root bridges and two suspension bridges over the river. Since 2025 a registered local guide is required on the trail. We book yours, include the bridge entry fee, and you meet the guide at Tyrna in the morning.
