About this stay

Laitlum, “the end of the hills”, is a grassy ridge where the Khasi plateau drops away into deep green gorges. By day it fills with visitors; by evening it empties out, and a night up here gives you the sunset and the sunrise without the crowd.

There’s no formal campsite at Laitlum, so camping is arranged with our local partner and the village. Facilities are basic — this is a night in a tent on a ridge, with a hot dinner and breakfast — and it’s run only in the dry months, when the ridge is safe and the skies clear.
