About this experience
The East Sikkim day trip climbs from Gangtok to Tsomgo (Changu) Lake at 3,753 m, then on to Baba Harbhajan Singh Mandir and the Nathu La pass on the India–China border at 4,310 m. It is the most popular day out from Gangtok.
Nathu La needs a protected-area permit filed a day in advance through a registered operator, and the pass is closed to tourists on Mondays and Tuesdays. We book a seat in a shared vehicle, file the permits and confirm the day before; all you send is a photo ID for each traveller.
