About this stay
Nongkhnum is a large river island near Nongstoin, in the West Khasi Hills, formed where the Kynshi river splits. Its sandy banks, rocky channels and the nearby Weinia Falls make it one of Meghalaya’s most rewarding offbeat camping spots.
It is a long drive from Shillong, so we suggest at least one night. We arrange a tent with dinner and breakfast through our local partner; the camp runs only in the dry months, when the river is low and the island is safe.
