About this experience
Umiam Lake, also called Barapani, is the huge reservoir you pass on the Guwahati–Shillong road, ringed by pine hills and dotted with wooded islands. It hosts national sailing regattas, and on a calm morning it’s one of the most peaceful places in Meghalaya to paddle.
We book you about an hour of guided kayaking with a life jacket, so you don’t have to sort it out at the counter. It’s a good first activity on arrival day, or a stop on the way back to Guwahati.
