About this experience

Mawphlang’s sacred forest has been protected by Khasi tradition for centuries: nothing may be cut, hunted or carried out. Inside are huge moss-covered trees, orchids, fungi and stone monoliths where rituals were held. Visits are only with a guide from the community, who explains the beliefs and the plants on a walk of about an hour.

We drive you from Shillong, cover the guide fee, and bring you back. It fits easily into a morning, and pairs well with the Laitlum canyons on the way back.
