About this experience
North Sikkim is the high, wild side of the state, and Lachung and Yumthang are its most popular trip. You drive about 7 hours from Gangtok past waterfalls and the Teesta valley to Lachung, a village in a steep valley at 8,600 ft, and spend the night there.
Early next morning you drive up to Yumthang, a wide valley along the Lachung river ringed by snow peaks, before heading back to Gangtok by evening. We book a seat in a shared vehicle, file the permit, and book your room, dinner and breakfast in Lachung.

About 7 hours each way on mountain roads. Take motion-sickness tablets if you need them.
Road closures
Landslides or snow can close the road. If the trip can’t run, we refund or move it.
