Ferries from Neamati ghat to Kamalabari run in daylight hours only, and they stop when the water is high. The last useful crossing back is mid-afternoon, which means a Majuli day trip is tight and an overnight is the sensible version. We plan to the ferry, not to a departure time we invented.
Vehicle crossings are ticketed separately at the ghat and are limited by size — a Tempo Traveller gets on, a mini coach does not. If your group needs a vehicle on the island, say so at enquiry stage so we send one that fits.

You can, but the last useful return ferry is mid-afternoon, so you get about four hours on the island. An overnight at a Mishing homestay costs little more and is a completely different experience.
